"Men are dogs", women say. Well, you wish we were that good.
We may behave like dogs in the worst of ways, but if you want the full benefits, then we need to take on all of the positive behaviors too. Let's start with the best and hardest one of all - unconditional love.
Though not faithful (we'll come back to this one), your loyal doggie friend will gush with the purest love for you everyday no matter what. Well, unless you're just really abusive. Your dog loves you no matter what kind or how many treats you give out, how much you play with them or pet them (though I think a happier dog loves bigger!). You can be in a bummer mood and your dog will draw the joy out of you with a wagging tail and a friendly look. They don't need compliments, ego massages or sex to motivate their love for you.
Your guy might be patient and loving, but how long would he last if he didn't get the buttons pushed that meet his expectations? I'm not saying that we should withhold anything from our partners, but there is nothing so liberating and freeing as unconditional love. In my experience, the most amazing moments of co-creative bliss came after I've given love without being attached to the results. And that's the crux of the problem. Men, born human, suffer from unmet expectations.
That's a lesson we'll have to study more from our furry friends!
So, what's the down-side of unconditional love? Next time, I'll get into that one.
